Compare the same scope
Check each quote against your project brief. Look for differences in fixtures, equipment allowances, finishing work and disposal. Ask for clarification where descriptions are too broad to compare.
Understand responsibilities
Confirm who supplies materials, coordinates other trades, arranges access and handles required approvals. Ask how the contractor documents changes after work begins.
Discuss timing and payment
Ask about availability, project stages, payment terms and how unexpected conditions affect scheduling. Avoid assuming an enquiry or preliminary estimate is a confirmed booking.
